Your mission
The Junior Process Engineer supports production and continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing processes, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting in project execution. This role works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and CI teams to improve safety, efficiency, and cost performance.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

In alignment with New Jersey pay transparency requirements, the compensation range for this position is up to $75k per year. The final offer will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with Mondi’s compensation framework.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Monitor daily production performance (safety, quality, scrap, output).
- Analyze process data to identify gaps vs. budget or standard.
- Support root cause analysis using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto.
- Assist in reducing downtime, waste, and variability.
- Support CI projects (cost reduction).
- Track KPIs such as OEE, productivity (e.g., linear meters per attendant minute), and scrap.
- Participate in kaizen events and improvement workshops.
- Help standardize best practices and update SOPs.
- Assist in CAPEX implementation and validation.
- Support equipment trials and new material qualifications.
- Collect and analyze data for project justification.
- Work with Production Supervisors to solve daily issues.
- Support Quality in non-conformance investigations.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for recurring equipment issues.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline of 0–3 years of experience (internship/co-op experience preferred)
- Computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Pivot tables, data analysis)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Previous experience working in a regulated environment (ISO, GMP) preferred
