- Support Compliance leadership in developing, implementing, and coordinating the Compliance Program to ensure high-quality mental health programs and services that align with the agency’s clinical framework, established practices and systems, contract requirements, and financial goals. *
- Contribute to the continuous development and implementation of compliance activities including: *
- Creating and conducting internal audits/chart reviews and other monitoring protocols. *
- Gathering up-to-date regulations and requirements. *
- Completing internal audits promptly and providing clear written feedback to program managers. *
- Conducting training and collaborating with managers and Quality Improvement (QI) leadership to develop coaching and correction plans addressing deficiencies identified in audits. *
- Improving internal audit protocols and practices, including utilizing AVATAR reports to collect pertinent data. *
- Supporting the Compliance Manager in developing corrective action plans for issues identified through risk assessments, audits, and investigations. *
- Establish effective governance framework to include regularly maintaining and updating audit mechanisms to achieve agency goals related to quality and compliance.
- Coordinate accurate and timely submission of data, including audit readiness and documentation standards for operations.
- Assist with designing and developing a compliance program to align with methodologies, audit approach and issue resolution processes.
- Assist with the development and tracking of Corrective Action Plans, ensuring integration with compliance risk and regulatory requirements and demonstrating measurable remediation.
- Maintain an integrated risk to action framework that links risk assessment results, audit findings, monitoring activities metrics, CAPs to support traceability, accountability and governance.
- Create and foster a culture of compliance risk ownership.
- Provide onsite audit support for agency with regulatory and accreditation agencies, including during external audits/surveys.
- Providing onsite support for the Compliance Department as a liaison, including, but not limited to: answering Compliance tickets, Officer of the Day, and representing the departments at meetings throughout the agency.
- Creating and providing educational materials for training at the department and agency level; in some cases, providing the training to the relevant agency department or employee(s).
- Providing training and education for internal/external audits.
- Researching, creating, updating and maintaining Policies & Procedures for entire agency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Compliance Manager and Chief Compliance Officer.
- Bachelor’s degree (E) in Legal Studies, Business Administration, Accounting, or Quality Management or Improvement; or a postgraduate professional degree Juris Doctor (JD). (D)
- Two or more years of full-time experience in a healthcare setting. (E)
- Two or more years of full-time experience in internal/external audit. (E)
- Proven intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Windows-based databases, and basic internet navigation. (E) Familiarity with EHR systems like AVATAR. (D)
- Familiarity with documentation for residential treatment, including Crisis Residential, Crisis Stabilization, and Day Rehab. (D) Knowledge of CCL, DOR, SAMHSA and DHCS regulations. (D) Familiarity with CARF organizational structure. (D)
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Evaluate clinical documentation for compliance with regulations. (E)
- Train staff in response to regulatory, accreditation, and outcome requirements. (D)
