Landscape Crew Leader

Mom’s Design Build is one of the leading landscape design and outdoor living firms in the Midwest. We specialize in high-end, custom outdoor environments including decks, fire features, front entries, automated motorized screens, landscape lighting, patios, pools, outdoor kitchens, pergolas and pavilions, natural stonework, recreational spaces, water features, metalwork, retaining walls, and more. The Landscape Crew Lead is a hands-on field leader responsible for overseeing daily on-site operations, ensuring projects are built to plan, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and client-facing professionalism. The Crew Lead works closely with Project Managers, Designers, and Installation Teams to deliver exceptional outdoor living spaces.

Field Leadership & Crew Management

• Lead and supervise installation crews on residential outdoor living projects
• Delegate tasks clearly and efficiently to maximize productivity
• Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and safety procedures
• Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented jobsite culture

Project Execution

• Read and interpret design plans, construction drawings, and specifications
• Oversee installation of decks, patios, retaining walls, stonework, pergolas, pavilions, lighting systems, fire features, and water features
• Ensure structural integrity, proper grading, drainage, and layout accuracy
• Coordinate equipment, materials, and subcontractors as needed
• Ensure all permits are in place

Quality Control & Safety

• Conduct daily quality checks to ensure work meets company standards
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites
• Identify and resolve on-site challenges proactively

Client Interaction

• Serve as a professional on-site representative of the company
• Communicate project progress and timelines with homeowners when appropriate

Job Requirements

3 years of experience in landscape construction or outdoor living installation

Proven leadership experience managing small crews

Strong knowledge of hardscaping, carpentry, grading, and construction techniques

Ability to read and interpret construction plans

Experience operating skid steers, excavators, and other landscape equipment

Valid driver’s license

Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying Minnesota weather conditions

Communicate and manage people diverse in language, ability, educational levels, and experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
