Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and de-matting to meet each pet’s specific needs and owner preferences
- Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Assess each dog’s coat condition and skin health, providing recommendations for ongoing care or veterinary referral if necessary
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and well-maintained
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand their grooming requests, provide advice on pet care, and answer questions about grooming processes
- Assist with pet handling during appointments, including loading and unloading pets from kennels or transport crates
- Support other team members with animal handling tasks such as pet sitting or kennel duties when needed
Requirements
- Proven experience in pet grooming or related animal care roles, with a strong focus on dog handling and pet grooming techniques
- Knowledge of dog training principles and veterinary experience is highly desirable to ensure safe handling of all breeds and temperaments
- Familiarity with animal restraint methods, pet care routines, and basic veterinary procedures such as veterinary technician or assistant experience is advantageous
- Ability to lift heavy objects regularly (heavy lifting) such as grooming equipment or large dogs safely and efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills to build trust with pet owners and communicate clearly about grooming services and pet health needs
- Strong animal handling skills combined with patience, compassion, and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of animal safety and hygiene
