Title: Controller

Reports to: General Manager

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Controller provides financial leadership for two operating entities by overseeing accounting operations, strengthening internal controls, protecting company assets, and delivering accurate, timely financial reporting. This role partners with operations and corporate accounting to analyze performance, support business decisions, manage risk, and drive financial discipline across the organization.

A. RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Financial Reporting, Close, and Analysis

o Lead month-end close activities and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting for the operating entities.

o Prepare and distribute required daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc financial and operational reports.

o Perform manufacturing cost variance analysis and communicate key drivers, risks, and opportunities to leadership.

o Complete special financial analysis projects as assigned to support operational and strategic decisions.

· Cost Accounting, Inventory, and Asset Management

o Monitor and control direct materials inventory, including analysis of usage, valuation, and variances.

o Lead year-end inventory activities and support accurate inventory reporting and reconciliation.

o Monitor overhead spending and identify trends, cost-control opportunities, and corrective actions.

o Monitor the capital plan and support tracking, reporting, and analysis of capital expenditures.

· Planning, Forecasting, and Budgeting

o Lead monthly forecasting processes and communicate expected financial performance to leadership.

o Coordinate annual budgeting activities and monitor performance against approved budgets.

o Analyze key financial data and provide recommendations that support operational decision-making.

· Accounting Operations, Compliance, and Controls

o Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related accounting processes.

o Oversee sales tax reporting and compliance requirements for applicable states.

o Complete W-2 reconciliation and support payroll-related compliance activities.

o Lead year-end audit activities and ensure required schedules, reconciliations, and documentation are complete.

o Strengthen internal controls and help ensure company assets are properly safeguarded.

· Leadership and Collaboration

o Lead, direct, and support the work of others within the accounting and finance function.

o Partner with the Corporate Accounting team to align reporting, policies, processes, and deadlines.

o Resolve accounting and operational finance issues by identifying root causes and recommending practical solutions.

B. QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to operational and corporate stakeholders.

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage recurring deadlines, reporting requirements, and competing priorities.

· Ability to analyze and interpret key financial data to support operational decision-making.

· Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.

· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience with Sage ERP or a comparable enterprise resource planning system.

· Experience in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, inventory control, or financial reporting for a manufacturing environment.

· Experience leading accounting processes, audit preparation, budgeting, forecasting, or financial analysis activities.

Pay: From $83,343.88 per year
