What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Financial Planner position at MOHR Talent?
Lead Financial Planner
Private Wealth | RIA Environment | CFP Required
Hartford, CT $135,000 - $150,000 Base Incentive Bonus
If you are a sharp, polished financial planner who is tired of being a cog in a bureaucratic machine, this is the job for you.
A fast-growing, high-caliber RIA is handing a proven Lead Advisor something rare: an instant book of 100 clients inherited directly from the Managing Partner, a true seat at the leadership table, and the freedom to actually do the job the right way.
No red tape. No politics. Just great planning, great clients, and real upside.
What You Are Walking Into
From day one, you are the lead. You will own comprehensive planning relationships for a high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth client base. You quarterback complex strategies across retirement, tax, estate, wealth transfer, and investment planning. You lead the conversations. You build the trust. You deliver the results.
You will also mentor junior advisors and help shape how this firm delivers advice as it scales. This is a leadership seat in every sense of the word.
What Your Day Looks Like
- Leading high-stakes planning conversations with business owners, executives, and HNW families
- Building and delivering sophisticated plans across tax optimization, estate coordination, and liquidity events
- Collaborating with CPAs and estate attorneys to bring fully coordinated advice to your clients
- Driving organic growth through referrals and your own network
- Mentoring the next generation of advisors inside the firm
Who Thrives Here
You have 7 years in financial planning or wealth management. You hold your CFP. You have worked with clients carrying $2M in investable assets and you are fluent in the full picture, not just investments. You are the advisor who anticipates what clients need before they ask. You communicate complexity clearly without ever dumbing it down.
You are currently a Senior Advisor, Lead Planner, or on a Partner track and you are ready for more.
Ideal backgrounds include RIAs, independent wealth firms, and wirehouse advisors who want to move into a planning-first environment.
The Compensation
- $135,000 to $150,000 base salary
- Incentive compensation tied to client growth and retention
- Revenue and book-based economics based on experience
- Long-term upside tied directly to your contribution and leadership
