What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare cost estimates for heavy civil projects (bridges, highways, earthwork, concrete, etc.)
- Review project drawings and specifications to understand the scope of work
- Perform quantity take-offs (calculate materials, labor, and equipment needed)
- Build detailed and competitive bid proposals
- Work with subcontractors and vendors to gather pricing
- Review and understand CDOT requirements and specifications
- Attend pre-bid meetings and job site visits when needed
- Keep organized records of estimates and past project costs
- Help transition awarded projects to the operations team
- 3 years of experience in Heavy Civil Estimating
- Experience bidding on public infrastructure projects (heavy bid experience required)
- Strong knowledge of earthwork, concrete, bridge, and highway construction
- Ability to perform detailed take-offs and cost analysis
- Comfortable using estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
