What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer position at MOHR Talent?
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer
Minneapolis, MN | $85,000–$100,000 base discretionary bonus
Schedule: 100% Onsite | Monday–Friday
About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with a well-established heavy manufacturing organization in Minneapolis, MN that operates in the durable goods space and maintains high standards across production, safety, and regulatory compliance. This is not a “maintenance-only” safety role — this is a visible, hands-on leadership position responsible for driving OSHA compliance, environmental programs, inspections, and audit readiness across facilities.
They’re seeking a seasoned Environmental Health & Safety Engineer with 5 years of experience who can confidently own site-level safety and environmental programs in a manufacturing setting. If you come from heavy manufacturing, understand ERP systems, and know how to manage compliance without slowing down operations, this is built for you.
This role reports directly to the Director of Regulatory Compliance and plays a key role in ensuring facilities are inspection-ready at all times while promoting a proactive, accident-free culture.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and maintain full OSHA compliance across all facilities
- Develop, implement, and update safety procedures, training programs, and documentation
- Represent the facility during OSHA interactions and regulatory inspections
- Manage environmental and safety-related budgets
- Conduct daily and periodic safety inspections across production environments
- Own emergency response planning and preparedness procedures
- Maintain and audit Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management systems
- Partner with HR, workers’ compensation carriers, and insurance providers to meet policy requirements
- Establish and update safety, health, and environmental policies in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations
- Facilitate monthly safety committee meetings and drive corrective action follow-ups
- Ensure documentation and reporting compliance for OSHA, EPA, and related agencies
- Promote and enforce a strong safety-first culture throughout production
- 5 years of Environmental Health & Safety experience in durable goods, heavy manufacturing, or industrial production environments
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
- Experience maintaining audit readiness and representing facilities during inspections
- Budget management experience related to safety/environmental programs
- Associates degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field
- ASP or CSP certification preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with workers’ compensation processes and insurance carriers
This is not an entry-level coordinator role. They want someone experienced who can step in, take ownership, and elevate the safety culture. You’ll have direct visibility with leadership, real influence over policy and compliance, and the opportunity to build and refine programs in a heavy manufacturing setting.
Compensation is competitive at $85K–$100K base plus discretionary bonus, and the company values operational excellence and long-term stability.
If you’re a strong EHS professional who thrives in manufacturing environments and wants real responsibility — not just paperwork — this is worth a conversation.
