- Title: Customs Entry Writer / Data Entry & PGA Specialist
- Compensation: Up to $30/hour
- Location: Little Ferry, NJ
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Customs Entry Writer to join our growing import operations team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate customs entry processing while maintaining compliance with U.S. Customs, FDA, and other Participating Government Agency (PGA) regulations.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong data entry and customs brokerage experience, and can efficiently manage a high volume of entries while maintaining exceptional accuracy and customer service.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustoms Entry Processing- Review import files to ensure all required documentation is accurate and complete.
- Prepare and process customs entries in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.
- Accurately enter customs entry data while maintaining high productivity and quality standards.
- Classify documentation according to operational systems and client-specific SOPs.
- Research and assign HTS/product codes when needed to ensure proper classification.
- Process FDA and Participating Government Agency (PGA) entry requirements.
- Monitor FDA "May Proceed" releases.
- Notify customers immediately when FDA document or merchandise examinations are required.
- Annotate delivery orders with FDA release information.
- Issue hold instructions to carriers and steamship lines until shipments receive regulatory clearance.
- Ensure shipments are released promptly after clearance is obtained.
- Communicate with Customer Service regarding missing documentation or additional client requirements.
- Provide timely updates regarding shipment status and regulatory issues.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure efficient file processing and shipment release.
- Monitor Customs, FDA, and PGA releases.
- Resolve entry discrepancies, census errors, and documentation issues.
- Correct bills of lading and other shipment documentation when necessary.
- Transfer completed files to the Post-Entry team for final processing and record retention.
- Support the Import Manager with customs classification and compliance initiatives.
- 3 years of customs entry writing and/or customs brokerage operations experience.
- Strong experience with customs data entry and FDA/PGA processing.
- Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import documentation.
- Strong understanding of HTS classification.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of U.S. and international geography, including countries, cities, and ocean ports.
- Experience using QuestaWeb.
- Experience working in a high-volume customs brokerage environment.
