Salary: $90,000–$110,000 DOE
Schedule: Full-Time
Workplace: Primarily In-Office | Hybrid flexibility may be considered based on candidate/location
Relocation Assistance: Available for qualified candidates
A growing multidisciplinary engineering and design firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its MEP team in Biloxi, Mississippi.
This is a hands-on design role for an engineer who enjoys personally developing electrical drawings and construction documents rather than handing drafting responsibilities off to a separate CAD/BIM team. You will work across a strong portfolio of K-12 educational, municipal, institutional, commercial, and other building projects, supporting electrical systems from initial design through construction.
The ideal candidate comes from an MEP consulting, A&E, architectural engineering, or building-design environment and is comfortable balancing multiple projects while remaining actively involved in AutoCAD/Revit design and drafting.
What You'll DoPersonally develop electrical drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
Design building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
Develop electrical one-line diagrams and power distribution layouts.
Perform branch circuiting and prepare detailed panel schedules.
Develop project-specific electrical specifications and scopes of work.
Perform lighting calculations and coordinate fixture layouts.
Conduct field investigations and site visits to document existing electrical conditions.
Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
Assist with fire alarm system design and associated specifications.
Design communications, security, access-control, and other low-voltage systems.
Support short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
Review electrical submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
Provide engineering support throughout construction and help resolve field/design issues.
Manage multiple active projects, deadlines, and design priorities.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Approximately 4 years of electrical design experience preferred.
Hands-on experience personally producing electrical drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
Strong AutoCAD drafting and design fundamentals.
Experience designing electrical systems for buildings rather than primarily industrial equipment, controls, or plant maintenance.
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable building/electrical codes.
Experience with power distribution, lighting, panel schedules, one-lines, and construction documentation.
Ability to coordinate effectively with architects and other engineering disciplines.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Interest in continuing to grow technically and taking on increased project ownership.
K-12 / educational facility electrical design experience.
Municipal, institutional, or commercial building projects.
Previous experience with an MEP consulting or A&E engineering firm.
Electrical projects taken from design through construction.
5 kV and/or 15 kV medium-voltage systems.
Experience involving switchgear, transformers, substations, electrical services, duct banks, or medium-voltage distribution.
FE/EIT certification, PE license, or a desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
This position is specifically focused on building electrical systems design. It is not primarily a PLC/controls, manufacturing equipment, reliability, plant maintenance, or operations engineering role.
Candidates should be comfortable personally producing and modifying electrical drawings rather than solely reviewing designs prepared by others.
Why Join? You'll join a collaborative MEP team with the opportunity to work on a substantial portfolio of educational and municipal projects throughout Mississippi and the surrounding region.
The position offers the opportunity to remain technically hands-on while gradually taking greater ownership of projects, client relationships, coordination, and project delivery.
Benefits IncludeCompetitive salary of $90,000–$110,000 , depending on experience
401(k) with approximately 4% company match
Health insurance benefits
12 paid holidays
2 weeks PTO
Professional development and mentorship
Support toward PE licensure and career advancement
Relocation assistance for qualified candidates
Potential hybrid flexibility depending on candidate experience and location
If you are an Electrical Engineer with strong hands-on AutoCAD/Revit and building electrical design experience who wants greater project exposure and long-term growth, we encourage you to apply.
