Position Summary
This position is responsible for applying paint, lacquer or other coatings to various surfaces and hanging wallpaper.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
- Performs interior commercial painting, staining and varnishing using brushes and rollers
- Hangs and repairs vinyl wallpaper
- Repairs surfaces to be painted including plastering and sheetrock finishing
- Erects scaffolding, movable and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas
- Moves furniture and equipment, as needed
- Refinishes chairs, desks and furniture
- Paints signs
- Mixes and matches paint, as needed
- Assists other trades as needed
- Responsible for all departmental logs/record keeping and labor recording pertinent to their day to day job duties
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Four years of painting and wallpaper hanging experience
- Two years of schooling in this field may be substituted for equivalent work experience
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Property layout to include pits, sections and zones
- Must possess knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety requirements of the trade
- Proper use of tools and equipment required to complete job duties
- Mandated safety classes
- Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure training
- Respirator training and fit tested
- Man lift training, (scissor and boom lift)
- Forklift training
- Confined space training
- Fall protection
- Must be able to work in a smoking environment as well as various weather conditions including extreme hot and cold
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and climb a ladder
- Ability to wear a mask or respirator
- Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
