Mohave College is seeking an energetic and service-focused Human Resource Specialist to join the Employee Services team in a role that supports both recruitment and human resources operations. As one of two HR Specialists within the department, this position plays an important role in helping attract, support, and onboard employees who contribute to the success of the College and the communities we serve. 

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, building positive relationships, and supporting hiring managers and candidates throughout the recruitment and onboarding process. The successful candidate will assist with recruitment activities including job postings, applicant communication, hiring support, onboarding processes, and employee services functions while helping ensure compliance with College procedures and employment practices. 

The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and customer-service driven, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They are collaborative, professional, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a positive experience for applicants, employees, and campus partners.

1. Recruitment & Staffing
  • Manages end-to-end recruitment for student workers, temporary roles, and non-exempt vacancies, including job postings, applicant communication, reference checks, and onboarding documentation. 
  • Supports hiring managers in evaluating and selecting candidates for corporate, community education, and temporary worker programs. 

2. HR Operations & Administration
  • Prepares and maintains various HR documents such as offer letters, contracts, and internal reports. 
  • Maintains and audits personnel records, both electronic and paper-based, ensuring compliance with internal standards and legal requirements. 
  • Monitors personnel transactions such as leave, accruals, and other employment changes, correcting discrepancies as needed. 

3. Compliance & Policy Implementation
  • Ensures HR processes and procedures adhere to labor laws, regulations, and organizational policies. 
  • Supports the administration of HR programs and responds to inquiries from employees, management, and external parties. 

4. Employee Support & Communication
  • Provides information and presentations on HR-related topics to various audiences. 
  • Acts as a resource for employee and management inquiries, offering guidance and support as appropriate. 

5. Project & Committee Involvement
  • Participates in HR-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Serves on committees and performs other responsibilities aligned with the scope and level of the role. 
Minimum Qualification
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
Or
  • Any combination of education and experience that results in possession of skills, knowledge and behaviors as outlined in the positions core competencies below.
Preferred Qualification
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution
  • One (1) or more years of experience working in human resources or in a position responsible for personnel functions
