Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Staff Accountant located in Metairie, LA. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing general accounting and financial processes of the company, including preparing and analyzing financial statements, reconciling accounts, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. Additional responsibilities include preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing support for audits.
Basic Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or accounting
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Suite)
- People skills needed to work directly with clients
- Good time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
- Ability to work well in groups and autonomously
- Interest and desire to pursue the CPA certification
Additional desirable (but not required) skills & qualifications:
- Experience as a staff/senior accountant
- CPA Certification and/or Licensing
- Experience with Quickbooks, Lacerte, and other accounting software
Duties:
- Monthly, Quarterly and Annual financial statement preparation including, but not limited to, bank reconciliations, initial and adjusting journal entries, trial balance preparation, and basic concepts and standards of compilations
- "After the fact" payroll processing including both quarterly and annual preparation of Forms 941, 940, L-1, SUTA, W-2, 1099, etc. (including Fringe Benefit computations, etc.)
- Monthly and Quarterly Sales Tax computation, preparation, and reporting
- Income tax reporting including preparation and review of Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041, and 1040
- Tax and accounting research
- Assisting clients in such things as business licensures, fees, permits, etc.
