Position Overview:
APC Construction is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Accountant with strong professional judgment, leadership potential, and the ability to take ownership of complex accounting functions. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in financial management, preferably within the construction industry, and brings the expertise to support a sophisticated, fast-paced environment. This role offers significant visibility within the organization and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to strategic financial initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to GAAP.
- Lead components of the month-end and year-end close processes, including advanced reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Perform and review reconciliations of all bank accounts, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Maintain and enhance general ledger integrity, reviewing entries for accuracy and alignment with project activity.
- Partner with project management teams to establish new construction projects, including contract setup, budgets, cost tracking, and financial projections.
- Review and support accounts payable/receivable processes with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets, cash flow forecasting, and financial models for leadership review.
- Support external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting, ensuring preparedness and smooth execution.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and system optimization within the accounting function.
- Provide financial insights that support operational decision-making and organizational growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience; construction industry experience highly preferred.
- Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with construction accounting systems (Spectrum, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar) a significant plus.
- Exceptional analytical abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, operate independently, and contribute strategically to team and organizational goals.
