Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance:
- Perform nuclear medicine procedures (planar, SPECT, SPECT/CT) following established protocols.
- Evaluate imaging quality and maintain equipment through routine quality control (Q.C.) checks.
- Work with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities.
- Communicate with patients to ensure correct exams, explain procedures, and establish rapport.
- Position patients correctly and use immobilization devices as needed.
- Adhere to infection-control and aseptic techniques.
- Safeguard patients and team members by following all radiation safety policies and protocols.
- Verify the correct radiopharmaceutical and screen patients for pregnancy as appropriate.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and educate patients on radiation safety.
- Follow proper radiation disposal guidelines.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering radiopharmaceuticals, and quality control.
- Work closely with colleagues, nursing staff, and radiologists.
- Ensure accurate transfer of patient images to PACS for clinical review and dictation.
- Observe patient conditions and communicate changes to medical teams.
- Provide services across all age groups, from newborn to geriatric patients.
- Train and mentor new team members and students.
- Maintain knowledge of current procedures, regulations, and best practices.
- Use electronic systems such as PACS, EMR, modality worklists, and Microsoft Office.
- Take a call if required.
- ARRT-Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ARRT-N) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
- Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures, equipment, and radiation safety.
- Excellent communication, patient care, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism under stress.
