Engagement Specialist
Position Highlights
The Engagement Specialist is an essential part of the Donor Relations team, supporting efforts to cultivate, engage, and steward donors. This role focuses on executing meaningful events and experiences that deepen donor relationships, cultivate new donors, and enhance the overall donor experience. Working collaboratively across the Foundation team and Moffitt Cancer Center, the Engagement Specialist supports the Foundation’s ambitious fundraising goals.
Select Responsibilities
Webinars: Partners with Gift Officers and program leaders to produce up to 12 webinars a year that engage existing donors, cultivate new donors, and enhance relationships with faculty. Begin defining topics up to three months in advance for each program, working with Gift Officers and faculty leaders to define the topics. Devise and adhere to schedules that address creation of topic, prep time for participants, creation of invitations, and promotion of the event. Work with Foundation Communications, Strategic Marketing and Strategic Communications to address promotion of webinars through internal and external avenues and social media where appropriate. Create follow-up surveys to determine ongoing improvements and track metrics to measure success.
Donor Tours: Responsible for coordinating the "Unlocking Breakthroughs" laboratory tours for donors and board members. Collaborates with Foundation leadership and Gift Officers to conduct tours for donors, prospective donors, and other key stakeholders. Serves as an informed and knowledgeable host for tours, sharing the history of the cancer center and an overview of current research initiatives. Maintains relationships with faculty members and others within the institution that would be appropriate to meet with donors, prospective donors, VIPs, and others as they tour the cancer center. Stay on top of changes in the institution that might impact the ability to tour certain areas.
Event Production: Support the Manager, Donor Engagement and other Foundation team members in planning and executing events geared toward cultivation, engagement, and retention of donors. Coordinate with vendors in catering (internal and external), venues, a/v companies, florists, musicians, and others to achieve the goals of each event or experience. Events may include individual and group donor tours, cultivation receptions, engagement breakfasts/lunches/dinners, and recognition society events. Develop and manage production timelines, track RSVPs, and provide regular updates to team members. Work with Foundation Communications to create invitations, promotions, and social media as appropriate.
Board of Advisors: Partner with the Director of Donor Relations and Manager, Donor Engagement to produce the Board of Advisors annual dinner and meeting. Assisting in planning event logistics such as; securing venues, catering, menus, room design, audio visual needs, accommodations, entertainment, and other items. Assist with periodic Board of Advisors zoom meetings, new member tours, special events and projects, and other activities.

Credentials And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree within Fundraising, marketing/PR, Communications or related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in event planning, marketing, or other directly related experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in coordinating special events of varying scope and size, working with both internal and external vendors.
- Experience in event planning in a fundraising setting.
- Attention to detail, creativity, and talent for producing engaging and well-crafted events.
- Strong communications skills: written, oral and listening
- Collaborative team player, able to set priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Fluency with use of technology for donor events.
