Summary
The Data Quality and Business Intelligence Department provides a centralized service to Moffitt in support of business, research, clinical, hospital operation, and workforce reporting needs across the institution. The department provides Moffitt enterprise-wide data reporting, analytics, data curation, and standards services, enabling data-driven decision support for the organization using hospital operational, diagnostic, treatment, outcomes and other health data within Moffitt.
The Business Intelligence Developer II role is under the work stream Business Intelligence and works as an integral part of the Enterprise Business Intelligence & Analytics (BIA) team. The role is responsible for creating and maintaining center-wide data analytics, reporting, curated data models, data extractions and delivery in support of various strategic initiatives and day-to-day institutional operations.
Position Highlights:
This position supports strategic initiatives by enabling the analysis of operational data (clinical, research, patient focused, financial and administrative) and reporting of curated information using various BI/Analytics tools. This position collaborates with Moffitt clinicians, researchers, and operational staff to ensure their data reporting requirements are met through data extraction, reports/dashboards building, using a suite of comprehensive BI & Analytics solutions.
This position requires experience displaying strong competencies in utilizing various BI/Analytics technologies and standards. He/she will actively and effectively handle complex data requests at any given time. The role is a key driver in the team, completing vast majority data requests that are of medium complexity or higher.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Extensive experience in designing and delivering data analytics solutions, including building data models and creating insightful reports, with a proven ability to optimize for accuracy & usability.
- Strong knowledge and experience in data architecture & data modeling skills, specifically analytics data modeling.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in data architecture and data modeling, with a focus on analytics-driven data models.
- Proficiency with modern cloud-based BI and analytics platforms such as Power BI Service, MS Power Platform, Snowflake, Oracle Analytics Cloud, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies to enhance analytics capabilities.
- Healthcare industry experience, with solid understanding of healthcare data, especially oncology-related data highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- The BI & Analytics Developer is expected to demonstrate strong competence in utilizing various BI & Analytics technologies and standards and be actively and effectively involved in handling complex data requests at any given time.
- Assumes a technical role as a senior, in designing, developing and supporting BI & Analytics solutions
- Designs and develop effective BI/Analytics solutions that may include reports and dashboards using available tools (e.g. PowerBI, Snowflake, SSIS, SSRS, OAC or other cloud-based analytics tools
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of SQL(PLSQL), SSRS, Power BI DAX, & other BI software, including data modeling, and data warehousing concepts. Experience with modern cloud data stack (Snowflake/Power BI Service/Oracle Analytics cloud) BI/analytics platforms or tool.
- Strong knowledge and experience in data architecture & data modeling skills, specifically analytics data modeling.
- The incumbent leads by example and motivates others.
- Coaches or assists junior staff members to progress and help foster a positive team dynamic.
- Steers the BI ticket production chain as led by team supervisor or manager.
- This position works closely with team supervisors, as well as business analysts, providing data reporting services to mid-level or complex reporting projects and resolving related technical issues.
- Develop and update technical documentation & other data transformations created for end user support.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in healthcare informatics/analytics, Biostatistics, Clinical informatics, Computer Science/engineering, Business Analytics, and other related fields
- Minimum 4 years of experience in related area tied to data query, extraction, data reporting and analysis in relevant information systems capacity, and database management and infrastructure is required.
- Proven expertise in a variety of relevant concepts, practices, and procedures. Demonstrated capacity to plan and accomplish long and short-term objectives.
- Sufficient analytic, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Extensive IT experience and sound judgment are required to formulate, plan and accomplish goals.
- Keeping abreast of technological advances and providing in-house training relevant to database management, infrastructure, architecture, and data access methodologies, etc.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, other BI/Analytics software’s, ETL and data warehousing concepts.
- Demonstrates willingness and ability to learn and apply new technologies
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience working with hospital Clinical, Operational & Billing data, and/or with EMR’s (Epic/Cerner etc)
- Experience working with Financial data domain, specifically with ERP systems like Workday or similar systems reports or the specific data sets
