JOB SUMMARY:
The Technical Lead is a hands-on working lead. This role bridges the gap between frontline execution and departmental supervision, offering strong technical expertise, day-to-day leadership, and task coordination within their assigned area. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the tools, equipment, and processes of their department, and capable of training others, resolving production issues, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and company procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Serve as the primary resource for team members; provide troubleshooting support, guidance, and mentorship.
· Lead and coordinate daily building movement activities as assigned by the Production Manager
· Assist with staging, moving, positioning, and securing modular buildings throughout the facility
· Operate and/or support the use of forklifts, overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and other equipment required to move buildings safely
· Ensure crew members understand lift plans, movement instructions, and safety requirements before work begins
· Inspect equipment, rigging, and work areas prior to building movement activities
· Communicate with Production, Safety, Quality, and other departments to coordinate safe and efficient building moves
· Monitor building movement activities to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and without damage to the product
· Identify and report any safety concerns, equipment issues, building damage, or movement-related delays to the Production Manager
· Train and mentor crew members on proper building movement methods, rigging practices, and equipment safety
· Maintain clean and organized movement paths, staging areas, and work areas
· Ensure team adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and productivity goals.
· Assist in training new employees; reinforce skill development across the team.
· Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency of the work area (5S practices encouraged).
· Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and cross-functional teams regarding workflow, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
· Identify and escalate equipment issues, process inefficiencies, or personnel concerns to management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience:
· 2 years of Equipment operation and basic rigging.
· Forklift and Overhead crane certification.
· Proven hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment within the relevant department.
· Advanced understanding of department-specific tools, materials, and processes.
· Heavy equipment operation
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
