Job Title: Assistant Controller
Position Description: Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will support the day-to-day accounting and reporting activities for a privately held, fast-growing organization. Responsibilities include executing and monitoring month-end close tasks; ensuring accurate and complete financial information; and assisting with financial audits, tax compliance, budgeting, and reporting. The Assistant Controller will take ownership of the accounting processes for assigned subsidiaries, as well as assist with the Modular Devices organization as a whole when needed.
Essential job duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensure timely execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned subsidiaries.
- Process monthly accruals for payroll, debt, and other accounts.
- Manage WIP, detailed fixed asset and project accounting, and inventory accounts.
- Complete accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations and determine how to resolve outstanding items.
- Reconcile bank statements weekly and at the end of the month.
- Review account reconciliations prepared by others on the Accounting team.
- Review transactions to identify and correct coding errors.
- Prepare wire transfers and review ACH payments as needed.
- Support the development and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and projections.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting software.
- Support the preparation of sales & use tax returns and annual 1099 reporting.
- Support the Controller & external tax team with the completion of annual tax returns and associated payments.
- Gather information and reports for external audits.
- Maintain appropriate internal controls to adequately safeguard the assets of the company.
- Work with the Controller to enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data to external and internal partners.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to Modular Device’s mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will, in partnership with the Controller & CFO, take responsibility for accounting and compliance.

Experience:
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Prior public accounting experience desired.
- Previous experience in process improvements.
- Manufacturing or project accounting experience highly desired.
- Minimum of 8 years professional experience.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required, MBA preferred.
Remote Work: This role will be primarily office-based. If the need arises to work remote, including nights and weekends, employees are expected to work in a secure location to protect company data and have stable high-speed internet.
Additional requirements:
This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work a general schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Employees may be required to work beyond the standard schedule to meet the deliverables and expectations of the role. Employees working from home employees, like those in an office, should use their time wisely and constructively plan their day since there is limited daily oversight.
