What are the responsibilities and job description for the MIG Welder position at Modineer Company?
Job Responsibilities:
- This position will follow written instructions with daily route sheets, blueprints of components to be joined-together, and possibly at multiple angles.
- Measure, and align workpieces using straightedges, clamps, tape measures, protractors, and calipers.
- Working knowledge of XYZ and LRA coordinates is a plus.
- Perform GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding on a variety of materials, and thicknesses, sizes, and orientations.
- Inspect welds for accuracy, and consistency.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements provided.
- Follow established safety, and quality policies, procedures, and practices.
- Requirements/Skills:
- Prefer 4-5 years of experience working with MIG, and TIG welding.
- Position requires good mathematical abilities, strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as tape Measures, Calipers, Protractors, Micrometers, and other various measuring tools.
- Must have experience with Grinders, Buffers, and other hand-held tools.
- Experience with selecting the correct Torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to material thickness.
- Must be able to read blueprints and use engineering print layouts.
- Must have experience using Weld fixtures, and/or Jigs for aligning workpieces prior to welding.
- Must be capable of safe operation of gas, and non-gas welding equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Experience reading and understanding weld symbols on blueprints.
- Some safety equipment must be worn when working on or around equipment in the shop. Bending, lifting, and pushing up to 40 lbs. is required.
- Education:
- High school diploma, or GED
- Ability to attain an AWS Weld Certificate after 60 days of employment.
4.0 Acknowledgement:
This position works in a production environment. Position will report directly to Production supervisor and will have daily interaction with other team members.
