What are the responsibilities and job description for the Beer Server (Modern Times – Far West Lounge) position at Modern Times Hospitality?
THE BIG PICTURE
As a Beer Server at Modern Times Far West Lounge, you are the face of the brand and the driver of the guest experience. This is a fully integrated front-of-house role where all team members are responsible for the full scope of service, including ordering, running food and drinks, bussing, and maintaining the space.
You are expected to deliver warm, knowledgeable, and efficient service while maintaining a clean, organized, and high-functioning environment. You’ll represent Modern Times with enthusiasm, product expertise, and a strong sense of ownership over the guest experience.
This role is part of a tip pool.
WHAT YOU’LL DO (THE EVERYDAY VIEW)
- Guest Experience & Service
- Greet every guest promptly and create a welcoming, high-energy environment
- Guide guests through the menu and make thoughtful recommendations
- Take orders using Toast POS (handhelds and/or terminals)
- Deliver food and beverages accurately and efficiently
- Check in with guests and anticipate needs throughout their visit
- Handle guest feedback and resolve issues professionally
Product Knowledge
- Develop strong knowledge of Modern Times beer, coffee, and menu offerings
- Speak confidently about beer styles, flavor profiles, and brewing basics
- Maintain awareness of seasonal releases and featured products
Team-Based Service Model
Execute all FOH responsibilities including:
- Running food and drinks
- Bussing and resetting tables
- Cleaning and maintaining service areas
- Supporting bar operations as needed
- Assist with keg changes when needed (shared team responsibility)
- Communicate clearly with team members to maintain smooth service flow
Operations & Standards
- Complete opening, running, and closing duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all guest-facing and service areas
- Follow all cash handling procedures and POS protocols
- Answer phones and assist with general inquiries (events, reservations, etc.)
- Adhere to all company policies and service standards
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all local and state alcohol service laws (RBS required)
- Monitor responsible alcohol consumption
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
- Help create a safe, respectful environment for guests and staff
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Must be 21 years old
- RBS Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Previous hospitality or service industry experience preferred
- Experience with Toast POS or similar systems is a plus
- Interest in craft beer, coffee, or hospitality strongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stay composed and efficient in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and team-first mindset
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Able to lift and carry up to 55 lbs regularly (kegs, cases, etc.)
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Available nights, weekends, and holidays

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
