Job Summary:
The Lead Low Voltage Service Technician is a senior, hands-on field leadership role responsible for executing advanced low-voltage installations while leading service crews on job sites. This position combines technical expertise, jobsite leadership, and execution oversight to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Modern Tek Solutions’ standards.
In smaller or developing markets, this role may also include expanded responsibility for territory-level coordination and customer-facing service oversight until the market supports dedicated service leadership roles.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and perform advanced low-voltage installations including structured cabling, CCTV, audio/visual, access control, and related systems.
2. Oversee daily jobsite execution to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Modern Tek Solutions standards.
3. Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and commission copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
4. Perform advanced fiber optic work including fusion splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
5. Lead and coordinate field crews on assigned jobs, providing direction, technical guidance, and quality oversight.
6. Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers, general contractors, and other trades during active work.
7. Identify additional service needs, scope changes, or improvement opportunities while on-site.
8. In smaller or developing markets, build service quotes and assist in closing service work in accordance with company pricing guidelines.
9. Provide technical input, scope validation, and job details to support accurate quote development when not directly preparing quotes.
10. Coordinate jobsite materials, tools, and logistics to maintain productivity and avoid delays.
11. Train, mentor, and support Low Voltage Service Technicians to improve skill level, professionalism, and jobsite readiness.
12. Review and maintain accurate job documentation including as-built drawings, test results, and progress updates.
13. Enforce safety protocols, quality standards, and company procedures across all assigned work.
14. Communicate job progress, issues, and field conditions clearly to service leadership.
15. Adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and job conditions in a fast-paced service environment.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or technical trade background preferred.
2. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in low-voltage installation with leadership responsibilities.
3. Proficiency in structured cabling systems, copper and fiber termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
4. Experience in fiber fusion splicing required.
5. Strong leadership skills with proven ability to lead crews and mentor junior technicians.
6. Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, and specifications.
7. Knowledge and demonstrated ability to safely operate powered access equipment such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, and similar jobsite machinery in accordance with safety standards and jobsite requirements.
8. Proficiency in the safe operation and use of hand and power tools commonly used in low-voltage installation, testing, and service work.
9. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
10. Industry certifications such as BICSI or CompTIA Network preferred.
11. Willingness to travel and step into broader market responsibilities as needed.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
2. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
3. Able to walk, stand, bend, and move for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.
4. Ability to work in high-temperature environments during Florida summers.
