Position Title: Low Voltage Service Technician

Location: Fort Myers, FL

Salary Interval: Hourly, paid weekly

Job Summary: 

As a Low Voltage Service Technician at Modern Tek Solutions, you will be a key part of our field operations team, responsible for installing, servicing, and supporting low-voltage systems including structured cabling, security, audio/visual, and network infrastructure. This role focuses on high-quality field execution, adherence to standards, and professional on-site representation of the company.

This position is ideal for individuals looking to build or advance a career in low-voltage systems integration within a growing, team-oriented environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Install and terminate low-voltage cabling systems (data, voice, video, security).
  2. Assist with and perform fiber optic work including termination, testing, and fusion splicing (based on experience level).
  3. Conduct testing and troubleshooting to ensure system functionality and signal quality.
  4. Prepare work areas, organize materials, and clean up job sites.
  5. Maintain accurate documentation of installations, as-built drawings, and test results.
  6. Work collaboratively with Lead Technicians and Service Leadership to complete work efficiently and correctly.
  7. Follow all company safety protocols, standards, and procedures.
  8. Represent Modern Tek Solutions professionally during all customer and site interactions.
  9. Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.


Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Basic knowledge of structured cabling and industry standards.
  3. Experience in cabling installation and fiber handling is advantageous.
  4. Ability and willingness to learn how to safely operate jobsite equipment such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other powered access equipment.
  5. Willingness to learn advanced skills such as fiber fusion splicing.
  6. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, the safe use and operation of hand and power tools commonly used in low-voltage installation and service work. 
  7. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  8. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments.
  9. Certifications such as BICSI or CompTIA Network are advantageous.

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  2. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
  3. Able to walk, stand, bend, and move for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.
  4. Ability to work in high-temperature environments during Florida summers.
