Job Title: Tool and Die Maker - Part-Time
Department/Division:
Modern Products Division
General Description:
Responsible for performing all duties related to tool making, fixture making, and other tool room work as assigned, using all manual and CNC machine tools available to the tool room with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a Pennsylvania Journeyman Tool and Die Maker Card.
Essential Duties:
- Starting with a general concept, design, produce, test, and deliver jigs and fixtures needed for production operations.
- Select materials, cutting tools, and equipment needed and use these to design and manufacture jigs and fixtures.
- Set-up and operate all tool room machinery including surface grinders, lathes, mills, saws, etc.
- Assist machine operators and group leaders in solving production problems pertaining to jigs, fixtures, etc.
- Suggest new ideas for process improvement and perform tests on present products or new products.
- Operate machining and testing equipment in compliance with all safety requirements and maintain all equipment in good working order through proper care and monitoring.
- Maintain clean equipment and work areas.
- Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift approximately 50 lb. parts and other items from floor to waist on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to stand for several consecutive hours without rest, with frequent bending and reaching.
- Must be able to climb stairs occasionally.
- Must be able to operate CNC and manual machine tools, and all hand tools.
- Must be able to tolerate a hot work environment seasonally, when summer outdoor temperatures combine with residual heat from machines.
Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to quickly comprehend and retain instructions sufficient to perform repeat tasks successfully and with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to understand and reliably carry out extensive and detailed process instructions.
- Must be able to read and understand complex drawings and prints.
- Must be able to comprehend complex engineering CAD models and drawings.
