Modern Electric Water Company is searching for a full-time Equipment Operator/Installer to join our team. This position receives a competitive salary commensurate with experience and position responsibilities. Our Equipment Operator/Installers are responsible for performing construction, operation and maintenance of the utility’s water system including water mains, pump stations and reservoirs for residential and commercial services. The position also involves physical ability to perform strenuous physical work associated with roadway maintenance work, considerable walking and standing, frequent lifting, exposure to weather extremes and after-hours response to system outages as well as customer inquiries.

Hiring Process:
Following the initial review of applications, selected candidates will be contacted for further information and potential interviews. Final candidates will be required to provide a driving abstract, undergo a pre-employment physical, and participate in drug screening.
Minimum Requirements:
At least three years of experience in water maintenance operations or equivalent preferred. Ability to operate a variety of hand, power, and long handled tools and equipment to perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks. Ability to perform a wide range of physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment including climbing or descending ladders, working in confined spaces and trenches or atop buildings and reservoirs. This position involves normal risks and physical hazards from mechanical and electrical equipment, traffic and exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals and water under pressure. This position requires strength to lift and carry equipment, tools, parts and supplies as needed. Physical ability to work in and around moving traffic and equipment; in areas of limited access; and confined spaces requiring standing, walking, bending, and kneeling to locate, inspect, maintain, repair and replace water valves and systems. Ability to use all required safety equipment. Must be able to utilize computer hardware and software systems.
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) under Title 49 CFR Part 382 and Part 40. Any applicant who is licensed and would operate a commercial vehicle for the Company will be subject to motor vehicle record check as well as drug and alcohol testing under the Company’s FMCSA drug and alcohol testing programs. Any offer of employment made for this position is contingent upon successfully completing and passing all pre-employment screenings.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
- Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
- Washington State Flagger Card or the ability to acquire within 1 year
- First Aid/CPR Card or the ability to acquire within 1 year
- Ability to obtain Water Distribution Specialist Certification within 1 year
