Position Summary
Modern Dermatology of Maryland is seeking an experienced Full-Time Medical Biller to support our growing dermatology practice. This role is responsible for accurate claims submission, payment posting, insurance follow-up, denial resolution, and patient billing questions. The ideal candidate has prior dermatology billing experience and is comfortable working within ModMed (EMA) or similar dermatology-focused EMRs.
To qualify for this position, you must have at least 1 year of Billing experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit and follow up on medical claims for dermatology services, including office visits and in-office procedures
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately and timely
- Identify underpayments, payment errors, and denials; research, correct, and resubmit claims as needed
- Prepare and submit appeals when appropriate
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances over 30 days
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status, requests for information, and payment issues
- Answer patient questions related to statements, insurance balances, and payments in a professional and courteous manner
- Verify accuracy of fee schedules and notify management of discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with payer guidelines, Medicare regulations, CPT, ICD-10, and dermatology-specific coding requirements
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards
- Collaborate with front desk and clinical staff to resolve billing or coding issues
- Attend staff meetings as needed and assist with additional billing-related tasks as assigned

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Dermatology: 3 years (Preferred)
- Medical billing & Medical coding: 5 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Certified Professional Coder (Preferred)
