What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at Modern Bird?
Modern Bird is a fine casual restaurant in Traverse City! Come join our already stellar team!
We're looking for servers who are passionate about hospitality, food, and wine. Extensive wine and food knowledge is preferred, but we will work with and train the right candidates. Our schedule is Tuesday through Saturday nights. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.
Responsibilities
- Provide warm and friendly hospitality to all guests
- Have extensive menu knowledge
- Have a good understanding of wine and be able to recommend wines based on guests' preferences.
- Side work to be completed nightly
- Honing your existing skills while learning new techniques and building your skill set
- Working collaboratively with BOH staff and FOH staff
- Maintaining cleanliness of any FOH work areas
- Participate in deep cleaning of FOH work areas
- Contributing to, and maintaining values of Modern Bird
Skills & Requirements
- At least 1 year of related experience required
- General cocktail, spirit, and wine knowledge
- TIPS or related certification
- Comfortable working in a fast paced and high energy environment
- A passion for food and beverage, exceptional work ethic, and dedication to craft
- Able to take constructive criticism, learn quickly and constantly improve skillset
Physical Demands
- The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
Compensation: Hourly (Based on experience) tips
