The Buyer is responsible for purchasing, expediting, and managing stock levels of project materials, replacement parts, and shop supplies across all Mobile Air rental branches. This role works closely with Operations, Service, and Safety leadership to ensure timely material availability while maintaining optimal inventory levels and cost control.
This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage supplier relationships while supporting multiple branch locations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process purchase orders for materials, finished goods, and shop supplies
- Track and maintain purchase order status, delivery dates, and expedite orders as needed
- Review vendor acknowledgments for pricing, quantities, delivery dates, and accuracy within the system
- Manage and follow up on backorders to minimize operational disruption
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels utilizing ERP data, historical usage, and sales forecasts
- Adjust reorder points and safety stock levels based on demand and market changes
- Assist with inventory control activities including cycle counts and physical inventory
- Collaborate with branches nationwide to support replenishment requirements
- Maintain strong supplier partnerships to ensure quality, cost effectiveness, and favorable payment terms
- Provide Accounts Payable with required documentation (purchase orders, invoices, receiving documents)
- Resolve receiving and invoicing discrepancies with vendors
- Contact vendors regarding invoice discrepancies and shipment issues
- Produce and maintain purchasing and inventory reports
- Support shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely order fulfillment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1–2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or related role required
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
- Strong computer proficiency including ERP systems, MS Word, Excel, email, and internet applications
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to take ownership of tasks
- Professional demeanor with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments
