Position Summary
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment by performing various duties as listed below
Position Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate root causes of malfunction or other technical problem
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and removes defective parts for repair or replacement
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
- Repairs or replaces defective parts as necessary
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
- Preventative maintenance: lubricates and cleans parts as necessary and as scheduled
- Fabricates most necessary parts
- Operates machines to test performance during maintenance processes
- Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair machine parts as necessary
- Initiates purchase order process for parts and machines
- Works with Electrical Maintenance Tech to maintain electrical equipment
- Works with EHS Manager to address technical related safety issues
- Keeps work order tickets current using the MaintainX system
Qualifications-Education/Experience
Required:
- Collects and researches data, uses intuition and experience to complement data
- Generates creative solutions, uses feedback to modify designs, and demonstrates attention to detail.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully, develops alternative solutions to problems
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence, ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a machine maintenance technician in a shop environment, preferably within the aerospace industry
