Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer role based in Kalamazoo, MI. The Mechanical Engineer will design and develop HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial projects, preparing calculations, drawings, and specifications that meet code and client requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing load calculations, equipment selection, and layout design using Revit, as well as coordinating with electrical and plumbing disciplines to ensure integrated MEP solutions. The role involves reviewing construction documents, responding to RFIs, supporting construction administration, and assisting with design modifications for existing building renovations and tenant improvements. Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with experience in HVAC and building systems design.
- Proficiency in HVAC and plumbing systems and related mechanical components for building commercial applications.
- Revit and AutoCAD for drafting and modeling.
- Project Management skills, including planning, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and schedule/budget awareness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline; FE/EIT certification or PE licensure is a plus.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, energy codes, and industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, etc.).
- Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and translate requirements into practical mechanical designs.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
