Summary of the Job:
The project engineer is responsible for supporting project managers and field leadership in the coordination and execution of mechanical construction projects. This includes administrative support, document control, tracking labor and costs, and managing submittals, permits, and closeout documentation. The project engineer ensures that project information flows efficiently and accurately between departments, clients, and the field, contributing to the overall success of the project team.

Requirements
- Collaborate with project managers to organize, track, and submit submittals, RFIs, and RFCs
- Maintain and organize all project-related documentation and ensure proper filing and naming conventions
- Assist in the development and updating of project schedules in coordination with field leaders
- Track and maintain jobsite permits, inspections, and related compliance documents
- Help prepare and submit progress billings, change orders, and purchase orders
- Collect and input daily labor data, quantities, and productivity metrics for labor tracking systems
- Support coordination efforts between project teams, fabrication shops, and field crews
- Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly project reporting
- Prepare documentation for project startup, including permit packets, job books, and preconstruction checklists
- Assemble project closeout packages, including as-built, test reports, warranty documents, and operation & maintenance manuals
- Communicate with vendors and subcontractors for status updates and document submittals
- Attend coordination and progress meetings and provide follow-up documentation as needed
- Support the tracking of material deliveries and proactively notify teams of lead time issues
- Coordinate and log all correspondence, including emails, meeting minutes, and drawing revisions
- Perform jobsite visits to gather field data and support quality control efforts

Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical management, engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- 1–3 years of construction experience, preferably in mechanical contracting
- Familiarity with construction documents, submittals, and change management processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Bluebeam and project management software (e.g., Procore, eCMS, BIM 360) is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Strong data entry and administrative skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based with occasional jobsite visits
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally (e.g., carrying plans, documents, laptops)
- Must be able to walk around active job sites, including climbing stairs/ladders and wearing required PPE
- May require occasional travel between job sites, offices, and vendor locations
Pay: $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
