Senior Workday Financial Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Workday Financial Specialist with a strong finance and accounting background who is deeply hands-on with Workday Financials configurations, enhancements, and optimizations. This individual will lead critical initiatives involving Taxation, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Management, Expense Management, and month-end close automation.

You will work under IT leadership but partner directly with Finance, Accounting, and Business teams, helping drive process improvements, system upgrades, integrations (EIBs), and reporting through Workday and Adaptive Planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Taxation & AP/AR Management:

• Oversee tax configuration, compliance, and reporting within Workday Financials.
• Ensure compliance with sales tax, VAT/GST, corporate tax, and foreign exchange (Canada/US).
• Enhance and automate tax reporting tools and month-end close processes.
• Support tax audits by providing timely reconciliations and documentation.
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Workday modules, ensuring process optimization and VPR rule alignment.
• Implement OCR processes for invoice automation and processing.

Asset and Expense Management:

• Manage the full lifecycle of fixed assets – acquisitions, depreciation, disposals, and audits.
• Configure and optimize Workday’s Asset Management module.
• Ensure accurate capitalization and depreciation according to GAAP/IFRS standards.
• Oversee expense management automation and enhancements.

Workday Financials Configuration & Optimization:

• Actively configure, customize, troubleshoot, and enhance Workday modules.
• Utilize EIBs (Enterprise Interface Builder) for efficient data loading and integrations.
• Streamline PDO to Capital Projects workflows and improve capital project tracking.
• Automate and optimize month-end close activities and workflows.
• Lead enhancements for foreign exchange handling, particularly between US and Canadian operations.

Reporting and Analytics:

• Build and maintain financial reports in Workday and Adaptive Planning.
• Provide reporting on tax liabilities, asset valuations, depreciation schedules, AP/AR aging, and expense allocations.
• Support data-driven decision-making with strong financial reporting outputs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Act as a liaison between Finance, Accounting, and IT groups.
• Lead and manage challenging stakeholder conversations, driving alignment across departments.
• Provide training and guidance to finance users on Workday Financials processes and best practices.
• Drive change management in a complex and evolving environment.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
• A background in the Accounting industry, with a preferred strong foundation as an Accountant.
• Most recent experience working hands-on with Workday Financials, including AP, AR, Tax, and Asset Management modules.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, tax compliance regulations, and financial best practices.
• Prior experience with Workday Financials implementations, optimizations, and adaptive reporting.
• Hands-on expertise with configuring, troubleshooting, enhancing, and customizing Workday Financials modules.
• Experience with Adaptive Planning highly preferred.
• Workday Financials certifications (preferred but not required).
• Strong understanding of EIBs, OCR processes, and foreign exchange workflows.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to “speak the language” of both IT and Finance/Accounting.

Compensation:

$125,000 – $160,000 Base Salary Bonus
