Military to Civilian Advocate (Part-Time)

We are seeking a Military to Civilian Advocate to support transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses as they move into civilian careers. This role provides career advising, case management, and workforce resource coordination designed to help military-connected individuals achieve long-term employment success.

Key Responsibilities
Career Advising & Case Management
- Conduct intake and assessment interviews with transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses
- Evaluate education, work history, and transferable military skills
- Develop individualized employment and training plans aligned with career goals
- Provide one-on-one career counseling, résumé development, and interview preparation
- Maintain accurate documentation and case records within workforce systems such as WorkInTexas
Outreach & Program Enrollment
- Recruit and enroll eligible participants into the Military to Civilian Employment Program
- Participate in outreach events including base activities, networking events, and military spouse groups
- Build relationships with Dyess Air Force Base personnel, National Guard and Reserve units, and DoD transition support centers
Training & Workforce Resource Coordination
- Determine eligibility for workforce development and grant-funded training opportunities
- Coordinate Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) and supportive services
- Connect participants to occupational training, certifications, and education programs
- Educate participants on financial aid, scholarships, and veteran benefits
Employer Partnerships
- Collaborate with workforce development and employer partners to identify job opportunities
- Match qualified candidates to employment openings aligned with their military experience
- Support employment placement efforts for program participants
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, counseling, social work, HR, or related field preferred (or equivalent workforce experience)
- Strong understanding of military culture and transition challenges
- Excellent communication, case management, and customer service skills
- Ability to translate military experience into civilian career pathways
- Proficiency with office software and case management systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Veteran, transitioning service member, or military spouse
- Experience in workforce development, career counseling, or employment services
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Access credentials for Dyess Air Force Base (CAC or other approved military ID)
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to travel locally for outreach events and community engagement
- Flexible availability for occasional evening or weekend events
