About the Job
As a Mechanic, you will play a critical role in keeping MLDS Trucking's fleet operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOT regulations by performing maintenance, inspections, and repairs on tractors, trailers, and related equipment.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel tractors, pneumatic trailers, and other fleet equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
- Conduct and document DOT inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and safe operation.
- Maintain accurate repair, maintenance, and inspection records.
- Support preventative maintenance programs to improve fleet reliability.
- Respond to service calls and participate in on-call rotations as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate with operations teams, supervisors, and dispatchers to support safety and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of diesel mechanic or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated experience or certifications performing mechanical and electrical repairs on over-the-road tractors and trailers.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Ability to read and understand repair documentation, conduct basic mathematical calculations, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must provide and maintain required personal tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing DOT inspections and maintaining compliance documentation.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Aluminum MIG welding experience.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and fleet management practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train and mentor other technicians.
- Experience assessing equipment failures and leading repair diagnostics.
- Ability to perform complex repairs independently and efficiently.
