We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in backup, recovery, and data protection technologies to join our infrastructure engineering team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting enterprise‑level backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on mastery of Commvault and Veeam, strong systems engineering fundamentals, and an ability to drive reliability and resilience across critical IT services.

You Will Make an Impact By
Backup & Disaster Recovery Engineering
- Architect, deploy, and maintain enterprise backup solutions using Commvault and Veeam.
- Evaluate, enhance, and continuously improve backup/restore strategies, schedules, retention policies, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
- Perform routine and complex recovery tests to validate DR readiness.
- Monitor backup infrastructure health, performance, and capacity; lead proactive tuning and optimization efforts.
- Create and maintain documentation covering backup workflows, DR runbooks, and system diagrams.
Systems Engineering & Infrastructure Support
- Manage and support Windows and Linux server platforms, virtualization technologies (VMware, Nutanix AHV), and storage systems as they relate to backup and recovery operations.
- Collaborate with application, security, and network teams to ensure protection of all critical workloads.
- Lead root‑cause analysis for backup or restore failures and drive long‑term corrective actions.
- Assist in designing scalable, automated solutions using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python preferred).
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure backup and disaster recovery operations meet corporate, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Enforce data protection policies, encryption requirements, and secure handling of sensitive data.
- Participate in audits, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives related to data resilience.
Technical Leadership
- Act as the subject‑matter expert for backup and DR technologies within the organization.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on engineering best practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to strengthen resilience and operational efficiency.
Skills You Bring
- 5 years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure operations, or a related field.
- Expert‑level hands‑on experience with Commvault and Veeam backup platforms.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows and Linux server administration
- VMware vSphere and Nutanix AHV
- SAN/NAS and Hyper-Converged storage technologies
- Networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, firewall concepts)
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise‑scale disaster recovery architectures.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commvault Certified Professional or higher.
- Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE).
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and cloud‑based backup architectures.
- Familiarity with configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) or infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform).
- Prior experience in highly regulated or high‑availability environments.

This role requires periodic travel to our Plano, TX site and therefore candidate must be within commuting distance to Plano, TX.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Pay Range: $88,000 - $147,000 USD Annual per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
- Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
