Description:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing the shipping and receiving operations of a company. They play a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of goods and materials both internally and externally. The clerk handles various tasks related to inventory management, order fulfillment, documentation, and communication with stakeholders.
Job Duties:
Shipping Operations:,
- Determine the most appropriate shipping methods and carriers based on cost, speed, and reliability.
- Generate shipping labels, invoices, and other necessary documents using computer systems or manual processes.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers and track shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
Receiving Operations:
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, damages, and compliance with purchase orders.
- Verify the quantity and quality of received goods, ensuring they match the accompanying documentation.
- Unload and unpack incoming shipments, organizing and storing items appropriately.
- Update inventory systems and records to reflect received goods and maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Communicate with suppliers and internal departments to resolve discrepancies, issues, or delays in receiving.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant certifications or training are a plus.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping regulations, carrier procedures, and inventory management systems.
- Proficient in using computer systems, including shipping software, inventory databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing shipping and receiving documents.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of one year experience supporting inventory or warehouse operations.
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
