What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at MJD Excavating Inc?
MJD Excavating, Inc. is looking to add a new Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team! We are a family and veteran-owned company based out of Rehoboth, MA, with over 30 years of experience in both commercial and residential excavation.
As a Heavy Equipment Operator at MJD, you will work on various job sites throughout the stages of construction while utilizing our assortment of equipment/machines. Our Heavy Equipment Operators work Monday-Friday, with possible overtime on Saturdays.
We are looking for a knowledgeable, trustworthy individual with the drive to become a valuable member of our team. Our ideal candidate will have 5 years' experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, a valid and up-to-date 2A hoisting license, a valid and up-to-date driver's license, and a reliable vehicle.
Responsibilities/Skills/Qualifications:
- Ability to safely operate excavators, loaders, bulldozers, skid steers, backhoes, etc.
- Ability to read/interpret site plans.
- Perform site preparations, trenching, grading, etc.
- Perform basic equipment/machine maintenance.
- Follow safety procedures/protocols.
- Troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
- Communication skills.
- Basic record-keeping skills.
- Physical stamina required (i.e. ability to withstand heat, cold; ability to lift heavy objects).
- Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred.
