We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant 1 to join our dynamic finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in corporate and non-profit accounting, financial analysis, and regulatory reporting. As an integral part of our organization, you will support the preparation of financial statements, ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and assist with various accounting functions that drive our financial health. Duties
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Perform account reconciliations such as general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure data integrity.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft.
- Conduct journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting to accurately record financial transactions.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial management activities to support organizational planning efforts.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements by ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations and securities law where applicable.
- Participate in internal audits and assist with external auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Collaborate with team members on financial report writing, interpretation of financial data, and financial analysis projects.
- Contribute to process improvements in technical accounting areas such as governmental accounting or non-profit accounting practices.
- Mentor junior staff or interns in basic accounting principles and software applications to foster professional development.
Requirement
- Proven experience with corporate accounting functions including general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP standards and financial concepts such as debits & credits, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial report writing, data analysis, and forecasting activities.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
