Accounting Manager (FT)   Note: This position requires candidates to reside within a commutable distance of Orangeburg, SC prior to start date of employment.   About Us:   We are a long-standing agricultural seed company rooted in the Southeast, working closely with partners to produce, package, and distribute quality seed. We are passionate about SERVICE and our mission is to serve employees and customers in a way that reflects Christ.   We’re looking for an Accounting Manager who understands agriculture, inventory, and the rhythm of a crop year — someone who wants to be a trusted part of the operation, not just sit behind a spreadsheet.   Job Summary:   This is a key leadership role responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the business, with oversight of AR, AP, payroll, and benefits. You’ll work closely with ownership, sales, operations, and seed production to ensure the financial side of the business is accurate, timely, and practical.   If you’ve worked in agriculture, seed, manufacturing, or another seasonal, inventory-heavy business — this role will feel familiar.   If you are looking to make an impact by optimizing financial processes and driving efficiency, we encourage you to apply!   Accounting Manager Responsibilities:   Financial Management & Reporting: \tMaintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions. \tPrepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for management. \tReconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts. \tProvide ownership with timely financial insight and risk awareness. \tCoordinate with outside accountants for tax and audit support.   Accounts Payable & Receivable: \tOversee and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable coordinators. \tMonitor invoicing, collections, and vendor payments. \tEnsure timely and accurate processing of payroll, tax filings (including sales tax), and vendor payments.   Compliance & Controls: \tEnsure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and county/state financial regulations. \tPrepare and file multi-state sales tax returns and manage agricultural tax exemptions. \tAssist in audits by maintaining accurate and organized financial records. \tImplement and oversee internal financial controls to minimize risks.   Budgeting & Forecasting: \tSupport the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts. \tMonitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis. \tProvide financial insights to management for strategic decision-making. \tManage seasonal cash flow swings and monitor daily cash position.   Process Improvement & System Maintenance: \tIdentify and recommend opportunities for improving financial processes and efficiencies. \tMaintain accounting software and financial reporting systems to ensure accuracy and functionality.   Inventory & Cost Accounting: \tReconcile inventory quantities and costs. \tAccount for grower advances, settlements, and production costs. \tTrack and value packaged seed and grower-produced seed. \tUnderstand crop-year timing vs. fiscal-year reporting.   Payroll & HR Benefits Administration: \tSubmit and approve payroll while ensuring payroll tax compliance. \tAdminister employee benefits (health insurance, retirement, supplemental insurance, etc.) and serve as point of contact for employee benefit questions. \tTrack eligibility, enrollments, and changes in benefits. \tCoordinate with benefit brokers and vendors and assist ownership with benefit renewals and cost analysis.   Accounting Manager Qualifications: \tBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. \t7 years of experience in inventory and cost accounting. \tStrong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. \tExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. \tExperience with forecasting and budgeting, including seasonal cash flow planning. \tDetail-oriented but practical business-minded \tStrong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines (comfortable working cross-functionally). \tKnowledge of payroll and sales tax processing and tax compliance. \tHigh level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality. \tExperience with ERP or ag-related accounting systems (e.g. Agvance, NetSuite, etc.)   Strongly Preferred: \tExperience in agriculture, seed, grain, feed, fertilizer, or manufacturing. \tFamiliarity with grower contracts or production-based business. \tExperience with ERP or ag accounting systems. \tCPA or CMA a plus (but not required)   This Role is a GREAT Fit if YOU… \tUnderstand that ag is seasonal – and don’t panic when things get busy! \tLike working with operations, not just reports. \tValue accuracy, consistency, and trust. \tEnjoy being the “go-to” financial person in a close-knit business. \tWant stability and long-term opportunity, not job hopping.   Hours and Benefits:   Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM   \tHealth insurance coverage \t401(K) matching up to 4% \tPaid vacation and sick days (including paid time off during Christmas) \tFamily environment and flexibility \tEqual Opportunity Employer \tSupplemental Vision and Dental \tStable, long-term position with growth potential   Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 based on experience and cultural fit   Why Join Us… \tEstablished, respected ag business \tStrong relationships with growers and customers \tHands-on role where your work matters \tOpportunity and grow into a controller-level position \tWe value SERVICE, people and God above all else.   Note This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
