Lead the integration and evaluation of advanced energy systems into forklift designs, ensuring alignment with design requirements and adherence to industry standards for both new and existing products. Drive the development and implementation of next-generation and emerging energy storage systems, while evaluating and selecting optimal energy solutions from various suppliers. Take ownership of all energy system-related testing efforts, overseeing truck integrations and ensuring seamless performance. Provide expert-level troubleshooting, issue tracking, and resolution for current and future energy system-related field service requests. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across teams to continuously improve energy system capabilities and performance.

About The Role

What You Will Do
- Lead and support building and testing of prototypes. Organize and analyze test data. Planning and developing energy system test strategy along with the characterization of new tests to be performed
- Coach new engineers and define processes for the team. Create project schedules and provide weekly, monthly updates to leadership
- Work with suppliers to communicate requirements, optimize deliverables and apply the latest technology
- Collecting test data, performing data analysis and designing test cycles to perform automated testing on battery cyclers
- Perform system level evaluations of energy system and forklift, prepare test equipment, install sensors and collect data. Troubleshooting, issue tracking and resolution on any current or future energy system related field service requests
- Collect current customer data and provide insights into the usage of forklifts
- Design and develop various energy system related components and sub-systems. This may include the development of control systems, electrical and firmware
- 10%-15% Travel

- Will require this position to reside near our Marengo, Illinois
- The work is primarily done in an office environment with other work locations including development lab, manufacturing line, and field locations such as customer facilities. Microsoft office suite of tools. Basic electrical, mechanical tool usage along with battery cyclers.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or related field of study)
- 7 years of experience in the design, testing, and integration of energy systems, power systems, and systems engineering.
- Proven expertise in energy storage solutions, including integration and evaluation of advanced energy storage technologies
- Strong practical experience with battery cyclers, charging and discharging systems, and basic electrical instruments (e.g., oscilloscope, CANalyzer)
- In depth understanding of industrial equipment battery and charger standards such as UL 2580, UL 583, UL 1564 and other UL standards
- Experience with CANBus protocols and testing. Knowledge of sensors, switches, actuators and other test equipment
- Proficiency in reading & creating electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, use 3D CAD systems, and troubleshooting electrical circuits
- Strong experience in data collection through DAQs and data processing using software like MATLAB, n-code etc.
- Deep expertise in vehicle communication networks, particularly CANbus and associated protocols, with proven track record of integrating systems
- Demonstrable experience in using Vector CAN tools like CANalyzer or other tools like P-CAN etc.
- Experience with collecting data at customer sites, troubleshooting and issue resolution
- Proven ability to collaborate with suppliers and third-party test labs to ensure product integration and testing excellence
- Experience with Firmware, software integration on electrical sub systems, battery heating, and cooling architecture

Salary : $108,000 - $125,000
