POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Engineer, Compliance is responsible for working with testing agencies, factories and departments to develop, monitor and maintain schedules related to product compliance testing. Instrumental in ensuring company remains aware of regulatory and code compliance changes.
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Leads the coordination efforts with the appropriate HVAC departments, MEUS product factories, AHRI, EPA (Energy Star) and DOE to ensure company products are properly certified to appropriate Product Certification Programs
- Works closely with certification bodies such as Intertek/ETL, UL, CSA and similar to ensuring appropriate product safety requirements are applied and met.
- Oversees MEUS laboratory certification and compliance; prepares and maintains laboratory audit documentation and procedures; works with team to maintain Satellite Certification status.
- Serves as the liaison between MEUS product factories and the certification bodies for new product testing and certification as well as ongoing maintenance of active product listing reports.
- Monitors and tracks product safety standards and actively participates in applicable standards development and revision activities with organizations such as UL, NFPA, CANENA and IEC.
- Supports Latin America business efforts by tracking and communicating compliance requirements to MEUS factories and sales personnel and working with international certification bodies as needed.
- Presents relevant compliance updates for internal training and sales groups meetings.
- Schedules the annual certification verification testing of our mini- and multi-split systems, ERV cores, and VRF systems and supports efforts for successful completion.
- Provides technical support for code compliance of product specification, layout, design, and application of residential and commercial systems.
- Responsible for working with Zone Engineers to ensure product code compliance and maintains action plan for resolution of regional certification issue.
- Obtains and studies information about competitors products for operation and code compliance.
- May support field testing as well as internal product testing.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent.
- Prefer 5 years engineering experience in HVAC or a related industry.
- Excellent communication, presentation, training, and technical writing skills.
- Experience and working knowledge of UL 60335-2-40 & -1, AHRI 210-240/1600, NEC.
- Team oriented, self-motivated and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Prepared to travel 30% with some international travel possible.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $111,200 and $152,900/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
