Shipping & Receiving - Shipper
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Shipping & Container Management Associate to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and damage-free shipment of finished goods while maintaining effective container management processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
Shipping Operations Operate lift trucks safely and efficiently in the shipping and receiving area.
Pick and prepare product for shipment using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) methodology.
Ensure staged shipments accurately match packing slips, ASN documentation, and customer requirements.
Verify loaded shipments match all documentation and meet customer specifications.
Handle, move, and store finished goods to prevent damage or deterioration.
Communicate any shortages identified during staging to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor.
Report shipping discrepancies promptly to the Shipping Coordinator or Supervisor to ensure documentation accuracy.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Container Management Inspect, clean, and store returnable containers in designated areas.
Sort containers by customer and container type.
Verify supplier codes for accuracy.
Remove external Kanban and supplier labels.
Ensure all curtains are secured and in good repair.
Inspect containers (interior and exterior) for debris and damage.
Document containers damaged beyond repair and notify the Lead Hand or Supervisor for direction.
Set aside and replace broken Kanban holders when time permits.
Report any live freight to the Lead Hand.
Perform packaging counts and report shortages or overages.
Maintain 5S standards in the container breakdown area. Minimum Qualifications Minimum one year of experience as a Shipper, Receiver, or Material Handler.
Successful completion of a Lift Truck Safety certification.
Secondary school diploma or equivalent. Required Skills and Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Working knowledge of Quality and Environmental Management Systems as they relate to shipping and material handling functions.
Thorough understanding of lift truck safety practices.
