Role Description The Heating Air Conditioning Service Technician role at Mitchell Heating is a full-time, on-site position located in Erie, CO. The technician will diagnose and troubleshoot heating and cooling system issues, perform routine and preventive maintenance, and carry out repairs on a variety of residential and light commercial HVAC equipment. Daily responsibilities include responding to service calls, inspecting systems for safety and efficiency, replacing or adjusting components, and documenting work performed in a clear and timely manner. The technician will interact directly with customers, explain findings and recommended solutions, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. The role also involves adhering to all relevant codes and regulations, maintaining tools and vehicles in good condition, and collaborating with team members and supervisors to coordinate schedules and workload.This position also requires tech to be on call
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience diagnosing HVAC system issues and identifying effective solutions.
- Hands-on ability in maintenance & repair, including routine service and corrective work on heating and air conditioning equipment.
- Knowledge and practice of preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and improve system performance.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction, including clear communication, professional conduct, and responsive service.
- Valid EPA certification (or ability to obtain) for safe handling of refrigerants and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Prior experience as an HVAC technician or in a similar mechanical trade; familiarity with residential and light commercial systems is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in varying weather conditions, lift moderate weights, and use standard HVAC tools and test equipment safely.
- Strong time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to complete accurate service reports and documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade school certification in HVAC is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, with willingness to travel locally to customer locations.
