Job Summary:
The Electro Mechanical Technician will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production facility machinery while supporting Safety, Quality and Production needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines. Records pm work daily & other proactive activities to monitor & maintain equipment condition
· Inspects machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
· Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
· Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
· Reads and interprets engineering blueprints.
· Identifies parts for order and installs replacement parts for machines.
· Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
· Services and maintains equipment including motors, conveyor systems, transfer systems, and production-related equipment.
· Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
· Prepares reports documenting work performed.
· Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
· Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
· Capable of welding, plumbing, electrical work and familiar with PLC, VFD, and other automation equipment typical of heavy manufacturing environment.
· Will keep Electrical Room, PLC room, and Maintenance shop area clean and orderly
· May be called upon for emergency work Subject to call in pay
- Install, troubleshoot, service and repair of all production related equipment.
- Ability to think critically and perform repairs in a timely manner. Able to recognize and recommend improvements to machine and/or cell layouts.
- Following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) will support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, product safety, company property, environmental and team member's safety.
- Responsible for calibration of microprocessor based control equipment.
· Responsible for repair/installation of general instrumentation and electrical control systems.
· Required to be able to read and understand relay logic for the purpose of troubleshooting and repair.
· Must be able to perform tests and calibration procedures using test equipment including but not limited to CRT terminals, data recorders, multimeter, megger, and amprobe.
· Will frequently work under pressure to diagnose problems.
· Must be able to troubleshoot and change PLC programming.
· Must have understanding of power distribution and wiring practices.
· Ability to install panel boxes, remote control equipment, motors, power and lighting circuits.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision on all electrical jobs. Ability to complete work in conformance of any and all safe work practices.
· Must possess a broad mechanical knowledge.
· Diagnose, plan, & perform all operations necessary to install, modify, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, rebuild, & dismantle various types of complex manufacturing & support equipment with special focus on
advanced troubleshooting on control systems, servo drives, motors, HMIs, & PLCs on complex high speed packaging lines
· Troubleshoot and repair of Pneumatic Control Systems, Allen Bradley PLC Systems, RSLinx, Process Control Instrumentation, 3 phase (480V) Circuits, Motor starters and controls
· Coordinate with other technicians, production personnel, engineering, management, & other stakeholders to communicate & plan maintenance activities
· Will provide support and substitute for Production Lead on driving production goals; this includes training, coaching, and filling in for Machine Operators as needed
· Coordinate with equipment/service vendors for technical assistance
· Maintain safe, clean, & well-organized work areas
· Comply with regulatory, Enterprise , & departmental policies, procedures, & standards (especially safety)
· Assist other maintenance technicians as priorities dictate, time allows, or directed.
· Identify opportunities for maintenance or process improvement & drive recommendations to implementation or resolution
· Complete or assist with special projects as directed
· Perform other duties as requested by management
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Mechanically inclined with excellent problem-solving skills.
· Completion of an industrial maintenance apprenticeship program is a plus
· Works well independently and with others.
· Good communication skills.
· Organized with attention to detail.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
· Familiarity with NFPA safety standards and regulations.

- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment.

- Knowledge of parametric and industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
- Capable of following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications. Troubleshoots malfunctions and complies with NEC standards on wiring and installations.
- Electrical and Mechanical competency as described above in line with Best Practice Standards
Education and Experience:
· Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.
· Must be familiar with the use of: VOM Oscilloscope IR Temperature Probe Multimeter Megger DC & AC Amperage Clamp Meter
· Previous work experience as an industrial maintenance technician preferred
- 2 years of experience working in maintenance in a large production facility.
- 2 years of working knowledge troubleshooting and programming PLCs.
· 2 years of working knowledge of mechanical systems
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods standing and walking
· Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
· Must be able to visually inspect machines.
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
· The plant environment will include working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
· Occasionally functions in areas with loud machinery and temperature variations
· Able to work extended periods as necessary.
