Join our team at Missoula Bone & Joint and Surgery Center as an Orthopedic Assistant and play a vital role in delivering high-quality orthopedic care to our patients. In this hands-on clinical position, you will work closely with physicians and providers to support patient care throughout their visit, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and compassionate experience from start to finish.

This onsite opportunity allows you to be part of a collaborative clinical team in our modern Missoula, MT facility. The role is part-time with a total of 29 hours per week. With competitive pay ranging from $19.00 to $39.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, this position provides a rewarding opportunity in a supportive and professional healthcare environment.

Schedule:

Week: 1st and 3rd

  • Monday: WFH (work from home)
  • Tuesday: 11:00am - 7:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
  • Friday: Off 

Week: 2nd and 4th

  • Monday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
  • Tuesday: 11:00am - 7:00pm

YOUR DAY AS AN ORTHOPEDIC ASSISTANT

As an Orthopedic Assistant, you will work directly with physicians and providers to support patient care throughout the clinic. Your responsibilities will include helping manage patient flow, escorting patients to exam rooms, assisting with gowning and positioning, and gathering health histories including medications, allergies, and surgical background.

You will document patient information and care activities in the electronic health record (EHR) and assist providers during examinations and procedures. Clinical responsibilities may include applying and removing casts and splints, performing wound care and dressing changes, removing sutures or staples, preparing injections, and assisting with sterile procedures.

You may also assist with fitting and providing durable medical equipment (DME) such as braces or orthopedic boots according to established protocols. Additional responsibilities include placing orders for labs, imaging studies such as MRIs or CT scans, scheduling surgeries and procedures, coordinating pre- and post-operative appointments, and helping manage referrals to other providers when needed.

Maintaining clean, stocked exam rooms and following infection control and safety protocols are essential components of the role. You will also help ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards while providing excellent patient-centered service.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a clinical setting

  • BLS certification required

  • Ability to work flexible clinic hours and assist during busy clinic days

Preferred

  • RN, LPN, CMA, ATC, or equivalent medical field education or experience

  • Previous orthopedic or clinical healthcare experience

  • Experience working with electronic health records (EHR)
