Job Duties
(M1) Master's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation; Recreation Education; Human Performance; or Exercise Science from an institutional accrediting agency of higher education; or Master's degree with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Health, Physical Education and Recreation; Recreation Education; Human Performance; or Exercise
Science from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
(M2) American Heart Association CPR Certification or commitment to obtain this certification.
(M3) First-Aid Certification or commitment to obtain certification.
(M4) Teaching experience
(M5) Demonstrates excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Doctorate in Health, Physical Education and Recreation or related field.
(D2) Community College or university teaching experience.
(D3) Online teaching experience.

Job Duties
- Assume responsibility for teaching subject matter in addition to good citizenship, respect for rights of others, respect for college property, and proper attitude. Teach courses assigned by Dean of Teaching & Learning. Teaching load will vary and can include regular and non-traditional classes/assignments, including classes during the day, evenings, weekends, on-line, at the Learning Resources Center (LRC), and on other MGCCC campuses. Classes shall be met when scheduled and for entire period of time scheduled.
- Meet classes according to class schedule for the designated time periods.
- Attend faculty or School meetings as requested.
- Adhere to examination schedule unless prior permission is obtained.
- Provide reasonable accessibility to students for conferences, advisement, or tutorial assistance. Full-time faculty refer to Statement No. 213. Part-time instructors are expected to be available at least one contact hour for each three-hour credit course per week or the equivalent.
- Provide advice for students as necessary.
- Maintain adequate records for all students and make timely reports as requested by School Chairperson or College Administration.
- Utilize available instructional support services, such as Learning Resources Centers, offered to students and faculty.
- Conduct evaluation of classes according to college procedures using the standardized evaluation instrument.
- Ensure instructional methodology and requirements are consistent with the College and respective departments.
- Follow established policies and procedures to enhance instruction and contribute to the successful accomplishment of college goals, course objectives, student achievement, and professional development. The role of faculty members includes responsibility for the content, quality, and effectiveness of the curriculum at the state, institutional program, and course level.
- Serve as a public relations representative for the Community College system.
- Supervise and participate in extracurricular activities as assigned by administrative staff.
- Ensure adequate evaluation of students' progress.
- As assigned, provide faculty representation on college governance councils as described in the college Planning Manual.
- Participate in college or state level academic/instructional committees as assigned.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by respective departments or college administration.
