How You'll Contribute

  • Own the development and referral growth of an assigned territory, including facilities, physicians, care-at-home providers, and community agencies.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with physicians, third-party payors, facility staff, discharge planners, social workers, and community partners.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate quarterly and annual territory plans to achieve growth goals and execute agreed-upon strategies.
  • Conduct effective sales calls and presentations with targeted referral sources to develop business partnerships and promote hospice services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of hospice services and act as a liaison between referral partners and internal agency teams regarding programs, service delivery, and new offerings.
  • Meet with patients and families as needed to discuss home care services, individual needs and concerns, and expectations.
  • Partner with Intake and patient care resource teams to ensure timely, effective communication with referral sources and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain customer and competitor profiles, log daily call activity, and document follow-up plans in agency systems.
  • Participate in community education and marketing activities, including physician calls, lunch-and-learns, health fairs, speaker programs, and CEU programs for healthcare providers.
  • Prepare monthly referral-source tracking reports and communicate important market, provider, and competitor changes to the agency.
  • Promote timely, high-quality care for patients and caregivers facing life-limiting illnesses.
  • Communicate effectively with attending physicians, hospice physicians, and other clinicians involved in patient care.
  • Ensure timely submission of required documentation and use agency and department software to complete assignments.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws governing agency operations.
  • Advise leadership on community needs, program development opportunities, and program financial viability.
  • Meet productivity standards, participate in required in-service and professional development activities, and promote the hospice philosophy and administrative policies.
  • Travel locally to community locations, clinics, hospitals, patient homes, and office or support-center locations to promote and educate stakeholders on hospice services.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by leadership.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • At least 2 years of hospice sales or related-industry experience with a demonstrated record of achieving direct-sales growth.
  • Experience delivering high-quality outcomes and driving growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional, effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong oral communication, presentation, relationship-building, and self-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications for communications, presentations, database tracking and reporting, and spreadsheets.
  • Experience using a CRM solution is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, travel locally, and respond to PRN emergency calls as needed.
  • Ability to work in medical practice locations and patient homes, including potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and move patients when necessary.
