A leading alternative asset manager ($6B AUM) is seeking a Private Credit Analyst/Associate to join its New York investment team.
Job Description
- Evaluate and underwrite new private credit investment opportunities across sponsor-backed and non-sponsored middle-market companies
- Build and maintain detailed three-statement operating models, debt sizing analyses, downside cases, and return models to support investment decisions
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including analysis of company financials, industry dynamics, management teams, and transaction structures
- Prepare investment memoranda and present underwriting recommendations to the Investment Committee
- Monitor portfolio companies through quarterly financial reviews, covenant compliance, liquidity analysis, and ongoing credit performance
- Support transaction execution by coordinating with private equity sponsors, management teams, legal counsel, financial advisors, and third-party diligence providers
- Evaluate financing structures, leverage profiles, covenant packages, and documentation to assess risk and return
- Stay current on private credit market trends, leveraged finance activity, and industry developments
- Collaborate closely with senior investment professionals throughout the underwriting, execution, and portfolio management process
Requirements / Qualifications
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, leveraged finance, restructuring, private credit, direct lending, or other buy-side investing roles
- Strong experience building three-statement operating models, debt sizing models, and performing fundamental credit underwriting
- Experience evaluating capital structures, leverage, cash flow generation, and downside risk
- Strong financial modeling, accounting, and credit analysis skills
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate investment recommendations
- Highly motivated, intellectually curious, and interested in private credit investing
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
