Position Overview
The Building Support staff member plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, supportive, and well-functioning school environment for students, staff, and families. This position provides instructional coverage, logistical support, and operational assistance to meet the day-to-day needs of the school community. The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible, and committed to supporting a thriving learning environment for children in grades K2–6.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom & Student Support
Serve as an active and engaged substitute teacher by following and completing lesson plans with fidelity, maintaining strong classroom presence, and avoiding distractions such as cellphone use during instructional time.
Provide supervision and support during lunch periods, recess, and transitions.
Manage student groups and ensure safe, positive environments both in and out of the classroom.
Build positive relationships with students, supporting the school’s culture and expectations/
Logistics & Operations
When not subbing, manage assigned school support tasks such as supply delivery, classroom support, or project-based assignments.
Assist with daily arrival, dismissal, and general supervision as needed.
Support teachers and staff with classroom set-up and school events.
Assist in operational tasks as needed from the Leadership Team and Operations Director to ensure smooth school functioning.
Follow school protocols for student safety, building security, and community expectations.
Work Schedule & Conditions
Full-time position during the academic year with possible summer hours for school preparation and operations.
Primarily indoor work with regular student-facing responsibilities.
May require occasional evening or weekend hours for school events.
Reports To
Director of Operations, Principal and Assistant Principal.
