QC TECH JOB DESCRIPTION
Will maintain and update the auto grader machine and the moisture meter to ensure lumber quality on the dry end. QC Specialist will also perform QC checks of the finished lumber both during the production process and following packaging. Will be customer focused, analytical mind, and have excellent communication skills to address QC issues and train fellow employees.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Perform machine operation verification processes (measurement verifications, document data, wane and face audits, communicate findings)
· Perform calibrations at machine centers
· Maintain optimizer set up and adjustments
· Assist Supervisors in developing QC processes
· Troubleshoot QC issues
· Work with lumber inspection agencies when they visit to check QC issues
· Train operators to identify quality issues and how to perform quality checks
· Communicate QC issues with green end leadership
· Help lead a culture of excellence
· Ability to be on call during operational hours
· Ability to travel when required
· Follow all safety procedures
Required Competencies:
· Understanding of lumber manufacturing process, optimization and how quality affects metrics
· Ability to read and interpret gauges, dials, or indicators to ensure a machine is working correctly
· Ability to accurately follow instructions
· Analytical thinking
· Autonomous work
· Excellent communication skills
· Strong computer science skills
· Forklift driving ability is preferred
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
Education and Experience:
· An associate's degree in industrial technologies, industrial electronics, or a similar degree is preferred but not required
· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
· Lumber manufacturing experience is preferred
· In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes is a plus
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
· Must be able to work in both hot and cold temperatures
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights when needed
· Suitable agility and stamina to permit negotiation of stairs, elevated work platforms, ladders, and walking on uneven terrain
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
